In his book (Machine Learning, 1997, New York, NY:McGraw Hill) Tom Mitchell describes machine learning in that a computer program, a machine, is said to learn from an experience E with respect to some task T and some performance measure P, if its performance on T, as measured by P, improves with experience E.
